Unlock your full potential and live better, as you move from Fear to Freedom.
Everyone has something in their past that is painful and holding them back from the life they want to lead. For me, it was my experience as a victim of sexual abuse as a child. The first time I was abused I was five years old, too young to know what was happening, too young to know it was inappropriate, too young to know that there was even the possibility of saying, “No!” to my attacker.
I grew up in a strict Muslim family where communication about sensitive topics did not exist between parents and children. My mother did not even talk to me about getting my period, let alone about sex or sexual abuse. I saw no opportunity to explain what was happening to me and get help. Worse, I lived in constant fear of being judged by my family and friends. The fear and shame affected my relationships with my mom and husband.
Through my unique, holistic background, I healed myself and overcame my fears and traumas in my own mind. I realized I could help everyone who has experienced trivial or traumatic events in their past to be able to overcome their fears and lead joyful, fulfilled lives using my 3-step process.
The inspiration for writing From Fear to Freedom: My Journey
It took me decades to understand how the trauma of my past was affecting my self-esteem, my ongoing relationships with the family and friends I loved, and my personal happiness. Even once I reached this understanding, it still took me years to find a way to truly overcome these horrific experiences. To realize that I had a choice, and that choice could be happiness. To forgive and move on.
I don’t want other victims to live their lives in fear. By using the tools outlined in this book, anyone can find emotional healing and become aligned with the authentic energy we were all born with.
What Will You Learn by Reading From Fear to Freedom: My Journey
I found that silently suffering kept me stuck in my past, but once I changed my mind, I could change my life. I developed a 3-step process that helped me to overcome my fear. This 3-step process is simple, yet profound:
· Reinvent – become self-aware, understand where you are now, know your own story.
· Reprogram – utilize tools like hypnosis, emotional freedom technique (EFT), neuro linguistic programming (NLP), chakra balancing, and reiki to fix the damage of the past.
· Reinforce – use your tools daily to heal further and deepen your practice.
These tools each worked for me in a unique and powerful way.
Breaking Down the Tools:
The first step – reinvention – is critical because the other steps build on it as a foundation. Before I could change, I had to face my fears. I was afraid of not being loved, so I shut down and didn’t share my real self with my mom, my husband, or anyone else. I was a basket case inside, overcompensating for the fact that I didn’t feel “good enough” by trying to look perfect on the outside. It didn’t work. Though I could throw the perfect party, my inner fears manifested as weight gain and diabetes. As I discovered my stories, which are my thoughts about the events and people in my life, I realized I have a choice. My stories are not me.
Five different techniques helped me to reprogram myself: hypnosis, emotional freedom technique (EFT), neuro linguistic programming (NLP), chakra balancing and reiki.
Hypnosis is my absolute favorite tool. It helped me to find the root cause of my problems. That was a critical step because unless we take care of the root cause, the issues keep coming back.
Emotional Freedom Technique became my anywhere, instant-fix tool. A few taps with that little hammer, and the monsters in my mind that created nightmares disappeared. My own thoughts began casting the characters and making up the scenes!
Neuro Linguistic Programming taught me to make quick shifts in my perception and use language to transform the issues. What the subconscious mind sees and believes, the body will achieve.
Chakra Balancing is an emotional healing tool that helped me release stuck cellular energy by aligning with my authentic energy.
Reiki taps into the universal energy or life force energy to heal the mind and body. I used it for stress reduction and to promote healing.
I found journaling and it became the perfect solution. As I wrote out my angers and fears, I uncovered the layers of myself, problem-solved, and released my inner energy.
These tools are powerful but using them is not like turning on a light bulb, flick the switch and it’s done. A regular practice is required to reinforce the healing they bring. For instance, every night before going to bed, I pray, I meditate and I visualize my perfect life. Practice does not make perfect. Perfect practice makes perfect.
You will learn in the book to practice the power of 2 on a daily basis.
